Terms & Conditions

STRING LIGHTS

​

Takedown (String Lights)

Takedowns are billed separately from installations. A separate invoice will be issued in the new year.

Takedowns are charged at 35–40% of the original installation cost, subject to a minimum charge based on scope and access conditions.

​

Timing & Scheduling

Standard takedown season runs January through March 31.

Scheduling is dependent on weather conditions and crew availability. Stella Lights will provide advance notice prior to arrival.

​

Takedowns requested after March 31 may be subject to increased off-season rates.

If no response is received regarding scheduling by March 1, Stella Lights reserves the right to assign a takedown date within the standard season to ensure timely removal before the end-of-March deadline.

​

Access & Site Conditions

Customers must ensure safe and clear access to the property at the time of service, including:

  • Snow and ice cleared from walkways and ladder areas

  • Gates unlocked and accessible

  • Pets secured

  • Driveways clear for service vehicles

  • Power sources accessible

Failure to provide safe access may result in rescheduling and/or additional service charges.

Ice & Environmental Conditions

In winter conditions, lighting components may become frozen into ice or bonded to surfaces. Stella Lights will take reasonable care during removal; however, if components cannot be safely detached without cutting due to ice buildup (very rare but it can happen), replacement materials may be required for future installations at the client’s expense.

Ownership of Materials

Unless otherwise agreed, all lights and materials become the property of the customer once installed.

Stella Lights is not responsible for storage.

​

Insurance & Coverage

Stella Lights carries full liability insurance and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) coverage for our crews.

Stella Lights is not responsible for damage caused by pre-existing conditions such as weakened structures, deteriorated surfaces, or aged materials.

Extended Installation Beyond Seasonal Period

Stella Lights installs seasonal lighting systems intended to be removed annually following the holiday period.

If seasonal takedown is declined or not completed by March 31, the installation will be considered an extended installation and will no longer fall within Stella Lights’ standard seasonal service cycle.

During an extended installation, Stella Lights does not provide monitoring, maintenance, or performance guarantees. Responsibility for environmental exposure, wear, hardware movement, and safety risk transfers to the homeowner.

Any future service related to an extended installation will be treated as a billable service call, subject to a minimum charge of $150, with labour billed at $150 per hour. Reinstallation in a subsequent season may require replacement clips, fasteners, or light strings due to prolonged environmental exposure.

Access Requirements

Customers must ensure safe access to the property for takedown, including clearing snow/ice from walkways and ensuring gates or locked areas are accessible.

Ownership of Materials

Unless otherwise agreed, all lights and materials remain the property of the customer once installed.

Stella Lights is not responsible for storage unless a storage package is purchased separately.

Insurance & Coverage

This protects our team while working on your property, but it does not replace the need for homeowners to maintain their own property insurance.

Seasonal Removal & Liability

​

Stella Lights installs seasonal lighting systems that are designed to be removed following the holiday period. We strongly recommend annual takedown to maintain system integrity, appearance, and safety.

If a client elects to leave seasonal lighting installed beyond the recommended period, Stella Lights cannot be held responsible for deterioration caused by UV exposure, wind, shifting hardware, or environmental conditions.

Any service calls required on lights left installed outside the intended seasonal period will be subject to a minimum service charge of $150, with additional labour billed at $150 per hour.

Installation (String Lights)​

By accepting an estimate via email, text, or verbal agreement, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions.

​​

Additional Costs
If our team needs to add extra light sets to complete your display, we’ll go ahead and do so. By approving your estimate, you acknowledge and approve this possibility. We'll reach out if there is going to be a significant change to your invoice.

 

Scheduling

Calgary’s weather can change quickly — thank you for your patience and flexibility if we need to adjust your scheduled date.

​

Exact arrival times cannot be guaranteed due to factors outside our control.

​

Access Requirements

Customers do not need to be home for installation or takedown during the string light season (September 15 – March 31).

​

Please ensure all vehicles are removed from the driveway on the day of installation so our crews can work safely and efficiently.

​

Safe access to the property must be maintained (clear walkways, gates unlocked, pets secured).

Payments (Strings Lights)

Estimates

All estimates are provided as a guide only. While we strive to honor quoted prices, final costs may vary due to unforeseen circumstances such as additional labor, material costs, or site conditions.

Any significant changes will be communicated and approved prior to work completion.

​

Payment Due Date

Full payment is required within 7 days of the invoice date, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.

​

Deposits for Large Jobs

A 50% deposit may be required for jobs exceeding $1,000, with the remaining balance due upon completion.

​

Ownership of Materials

All lights and materials provided by Stella Lights remain the property of Stella until payment is received in full.

Stella Lights reserves the right to remove or disable any installed products in the event of non-payment.

​

Late Payments

Payments not received within 14 days of the invoice date will be subject to interest at 3% per annum (pro-rated daily) on the overdue amount.

​

Accepted Payment Methods

Payments may be made by e-transfer, cheque, or cash.

Credit card payments are accepted if the customer agrees to pay the processing fees charged by their credit card provider.

​

All payments must be made in Canadian dollars (CAD).

​

Cancellation & Rescheduling

Cancellations made within 2 days of the scheduled service may result in a cancellation fee.

Rescheduling is subject to crew availability and seasonal demand.

 

Warranty (Strings Lights)

Stella Lights provides a 5 year limited warranty on all commercial grade string lights (excluding clips) provided by Stella Lights. Warranty on any non-commercial grade lights is at the discretion of Stella Lights. Warranty periods commence upon completion of the install by Stella Lights. 

 

Install/Labour:  We offer a warranty for defects caused by improper installation during the current install period (i.e. from the installation date until December 22nd).

Warranty Limitations

This warranty does not cover damage resulting from:

-Natural disasters, including but not limited to storms, floods, and earthquakes.

-Lightning strikes or power surges.

-Fire, vandalism, or theft.

-Animal interference.

-Improper maintenance, tampering, or unauthorized modifications.

-Removal or installation of string lights by anyone other than Stella Lights.

- Impact of foreign objects such as water and ice damage.

 

Proper Usage Requirement

-Continuous operation of 12 - 16 hours per day will significantly reduce the lifespan of the product and void the warranty.

-To maximize longevity, lights should be used for no more than 8 hours per day.

 

Service & Labour

-This warranty covers replacement products only (clips excluded). 

-Labor, service calls, or installation fees associated with replacing components may be subject to additional charges.

 

Manufacturer Changes & Availability

-If versions of our lights are discontinued, Stella Lights cannot guarantee exact replacements. Alternative solutions may be offered at the customer’s expense.

-Should the customer choose to install or remove the lights themselves at any point the warranty is void.

 

Ownership & Transferability

-This warranty is valid only for the original purchaser and is non-transferable if the lights change ownership.

-Stella Lights shall not be liable for incidental or consequential damages, including but not limited to property damage and  loss of lights.

FIX- UPS

Issues unrelated to improper installation or defective products may incur charges for Fix Ups, as described below.

 

Should the lights or any other product fail we will have a team out to you as soon as possible. 

​

Fix-ups on houses or trees required for reasons other than improper installation or defective product (within the warranty period) shall be subject to a fix-up charge starting at $75.

​

Should you leave your lights up for longer than 6 months after the install date and the strings come loose from the house/tree(s), stop working or become damaged, dull, bleached or in any other way defective addition fix-up fees will be charged to rectify and/or replace product, prices will vary. Fix-up fees for house lights left up longer than 6 months after install date start at $120 for a one storey and $165 for a two storey house.

​

Fix-up fees for tree lights left up longer than 6 months after install date will depend on height and condition of each individual tree.

​

Fix-up on lights not purchased through Stella Lights are subject to additional fix-up rates based on the scope and size of the job.

 

Photos (String Lights)

Stella Lights installers may take photos of the exterior of your home and submit them to Stella Inc. management for reasons such as training, quality assurance, online and social media marketing and dispute resolution. Feel free to request censorship if you do not wish to have your property photographed for social media or marketing purposes.
